Komunitas Semut (Hymenoptera: Formicidae) Di Kawasan Kampus Universitas Riau
The diversity of ants is influenced by habitat variations, as ants are highly sensitive to environmental changes. Ecological factors such as vegetation and microclimate can affect their distribution and abundance. This study aims to examine the composition, diversity, and evenness of ant species across different habitats within the University of Riau area. The research on ant species diversity was conducted in three habitats: a fruit garden, an oil palm plantation, and an arboretum within the University of Riau. The study was carried out from November to December 2024 using the pitfall trap and hand-collecting methods. Results from the three habitat types revealed the presence of 48 species from six subfamilies, with a total of 2,567 individuals. The results of the frequency analysis indicate that eight ant species fall into the medium to high category (53%–100%), while 40 species are classified as very rare to rare (7%–47%). The environmental conditions measured are soil temperature, soil moisture, air temperature, air humidity, light intensity, shading, and litter thickness.
