ABSTRACT
This study aims to analyze the role of Tourism Awareness Groups (Pokdarwis)
in tourism development in Kuok District, Kampar Regency. The role of Pokdarwis in
increasing public awareness of the importance of sustainable tourism management,
examining the factors that support and inhibit the role of Pokdarwis in tourism
development in Kuok District, Kampar Regency. Data collection and research
information were carried out using observation techniques, interviews, questionnaires
and direct documentation of informants at the research location. The research method
used is descriptive qualitative with primary and secondary data. The sampling
technique in this study used the Purposive Sampling technique and the sample
determined from this study was Pokdarwis in Kuok District which has active
involvement in tourism development in Kuok District, Kampar Regency. The results of
this study indicate that the role of Pokdarwis, supporting and inhibiting factors of
Pokdarwis have a major influence on sustainable tourism development and have
succeeded in increasing the attractiveness of visits and increasing the income of local
people who are business actors and tourist attractions in Kuok District, Kampar
Regency.
