DISEASE AT PANTI ASUHAN HARAPAN PEKANBARU

Scabies or gudig is a contagious skin disease caused by Sarcoptes scabiei.
The disease is often found in places densely populated by the poor state of PHBS,
including the Hope Orphanage Pekanbaru. The purpose of this study to determine
the relationship between hygienic behavior with the incidence of scabies in
Pekanbaru Hope Orphanage. This research uses analytical research with cross
sectional approach. Selected sample of 44 people in total sampling of 94 children
with criteria for inclusion of children aged 6 years and older. Data obtained
through direct interviews with respondents using questionnaires. The data
obtained were analyzed using univariate and bivariate Chi-square test. The
results showed 36.4% of respondents who are suffering from scabies, 70.5% had a
poor level of hygiene, 61.4% of respondents had high knowledge, as well as a
neutral attitude as much as 61.4% of respondents. The results of the analysis is
known to have a significant association between levels of personal hygiene and a
low level of knowledge with the incidence of scabies (p = 0.000). Conversely there
is no significant relationship between attitudes and environmental sanitation with
the incidence of scabies.
