Chalcone is one of secondary metabolites included into the class of flavonoids that are known to have biological activities and can be used as an intermediate for synthesizing heterocyclic compounds, such as flavones, flavanols, flavanones, and others that also have biological activities. Therefore, many chalcones become model structures of target compounds by researcher. In this research, chalcones of 4'-methyl acetophenone derivative were synthesized using the stirrer with a base catalyst (NaOH) at room temperature. The purity of all compounds have been tested using TLC, melting point test, and analytical HPLC. Then, they are characterized using UV,IR, 1H NMR and MS spectroscopy. The toxicity test was done Brine Shrimp Lethality Test (BSLT) method which was indicated by LC50
