Analisis Foraminifera Bentik Pada Sedimen Terumbu Karang Di Pulau Pandan Kota Padang Provinsi Sumatera Barat
Foraminifera is one of single-celled protozoa, living in the water environment especially marine waters. This organism can be used as bioindicator of environmental conditions of coral reefs through a simple index called FORAM (Foraminifers in Reef Assessment and Monitoring) Indeks. The purpose of this research is to determine the feasibility of coral reef environments based on benthic foraminifera seen from the FORAM (Foraminifers in Reef Assessment and Monitoring) Indeks. The sediment sampling and measurement of environment parameters were conducted from 8 stations in November 2016. The steps to analyze foraminifera are sample preparation, then the sample was taken maximum 300 individuals with 2 times repetition, the result is collected to identify the morphological structure of foraminifera's shell. The results showed that there were 4 genera benthic foraminifera bioindicator of coral reefs environmental conditions in the Pandan Island. The condition of coral reefs in the waters of Pulau Pandan based FORAM (Foraminifers in Reef Assessment and Monitoring) Indeks values ranged from 5.31 - 5.98, indicating that the water is was suitable for coral reef growth environment which characterized by the presence of Amphistegina. The environmental conditions that began to decline water quality and is found by the presence of Quinquequloculina.
