Mobilitas Sosial Petani Holtikultura Di Kelurahan Toapaya Asri Kecamatan Toapaya Kabupaten Bintan Kepulauan Riau

Population mobility that occurs in Toapaya Asri is high, there also population mobility each year. The greatest mobility of labor in agriculture due to Toapaya Asri is the one of Agricultural Center in Bintan. The management capabilities of agricultural sector especially in Toapaya Asri to create employment opportunity has become attractiveness to labor from other region, in fact many labor from another province come and work in this area. This study aims to determine the socio - economic conditions of holticulture farmer after social mobility in Toapaya Asri and to determine the factor that become main driver of holticulture farmer’s social mobility. Techniques of data analysis in this study using descriptive quantitative methods with purposive sampling. Primary data obtained by observation and interview guide. The result showed farmer’s social mobility in Toapaya Asri is vertical social mobility and horizontal social mobility but in this study are mostly vertical ride social mobility that change the social status and social class and improving the social status and social class, from farmers workers to land - owning farmer and this change will rising their incomes significantly. Main factor that motivate farmer for social mobility to Toapaya Asri Subdistrict due to economic factors, the desires to improve the social status and economy status for the better life. The imfacts to farmer after social mobility in Toapaya Asri Subdistrict is rising incomes and social status changing towards a better life than before, it’s clear since lived in Toapaya Asri almost all of them were able to build simple house, buying vehicles and save some of their incomes in order to send their children to school.
