Pengaruh Karakteristik Individu Dan Prestasi Kerja Terhadap Pengembangan Karir Pegawai Di Dinas Pendidikan Provinsi Riau

This research is aimed to find out the influence variables (1) individual characteristics on career development, (2) work performance on career development, (3) both individual characteristics and work performance on career development. The respondents of this research are 163 employees of Education Department of Riau Province obtained by simple random sampling technique. Data were collected through questionnaires as the research instruments. Analyses of the data used are descriptive analysis, inferential statistical analysis and hypothesis testing. Instrument reliability coefficient was calculated using Cronbach alpha formula. Partially, the research results show the positive influence of the individual characteristics on the career development amounted to 0.198, and there is positive influence on work performance on the career development of 0.426. While simultaneously, the influence of individual characteristics and work performance on the career development is of 0.573.
