Falls in the elderly are things that can happen anytime. Previous research has elderly who live in a nursing home tend to fall greater than that living in the home or community-dwelling. Fall experienced by the elderly have characteristics such activity causes of falls, locations, factors that causes falls and type of injury. Every elderly has risk factors which may cause the elderly fall in the future. In addition, the elderly are also likely to experience a decrease in their daily activities. Another study states there is dependence on the elderly in performing everyday activities. This study aims to see an overview of the history of falls, fall events characteristics, degree of independence and risk factors of fall in the elderly in Khusnul Khotimah nursing home in Riau Province. This is a descriptive study with cross-sectional design which took a sample of 33 elderly people with total sampling method. Fall history questionnaire, Barthel Index and Morse Fall Scale used in this study. The results of this study indicate that the numbers of elderly who fall are 13 people (39%). Activity fell most causes are running (56.7%), fell in most locations are at home (66.8%), the most frequent factors that cause falls are stumbled upon (33,3%), there are eight people (61.5%) were injured and the most type of injury are handled injuries (38.5%). Based on the level of independence, the majority of the elderly are independent in performing daily activities (51.5%), and most of the elderly (51.5%) had risk factors for falls.
