Identifikasi Kadar Formalin Pada Jajanan Anak Sekolah Dasar Di Tiga Kelurahan Pada Kecamatan Senapelan Wilayah Kota Pekanbaru Tahun 2016
Snacking is eating food or drink between main meals. Snacking is done in
all age, specially in children. Merchants may exploit habitual snacking by
offering many attractive snacks for children. Unfortunately, some merchants add
these snacks with prohibited subtances by the government, such as formaldehyde.
This was a descriptive study aimed to identify formaldehyde content in snacks
sold at primary school in Kampung Baru, Kampung Dalam and Kampung
Bandar, Senapelan district Pekanbaru. The qualitative test of formaldehyde
performed using a formaldehyde kit test. The results showed that 10 out of 25
samples of snacks contained formaldehyde. Indicated by the purple color in the
formalin test kit qualitatively. The positive samples then assessed by quantitative
formalin test with a spectrophotometry. The quantitative test showed that the
formalin positive samples contained formalin with the range of 1,31%—4,42%
The conclusion in this study was 40% of the samples contained formaldehyde with
an average value of 3.5%.
