Gambaran Penggunaan Antibiotik Pada Pasien Common Cold Di Puskesmas Rumbai Pesisir Pekanbaru Periode Januari – Desember 2014
Common cold is one of acute respiratory tract infections which is a common disease in community. Generally caused by viruses, the common cold is treated symptomatically. Although antibiotics are not used against viral respiratory infections, studies have shown high rates of prescription. The aim of this study was to know the antibiotic use description in patient with common cold in Rumbai Pesisir Primary Health Center Pekanbaru throughout the period of January - December 2014. This study was a descriptive retrospective study with secondary data from medical record. 1638 subjects were obtained. Data was presented in frequency distribution table and statistical diagram. The highest percentage of age of patients was toddler 0-5 years old (60,7%), while the highest percentage of gender found in this study was female (53,1%). Antibiotics were prescribed for 26,7% of all subjects. The most frequently used antibiotic was amoxicillin (67,0%). The other antibiotics used were co-trimoxazole, erythromycin and cefadroxil. Among those use of antibiotics, some given with inappropriate dose (25,4%), inappropriate frequency (17,8%) and inappropriate duration (13,5%). A small number of patients with common cold still received antibiotics and it had been given with inappropriate dose, inappropriate frequency and inappropriate duration.
