Struktur Komunitas Perifiton Dengan Substrat Buatan Di Danau Pinang Luar Desa Buluhcina Kecamatan Siak Hulu Kabupaten Kampar Provinsi Riau
Pollutant from activities conducted around the Pinang Luar Lake enters the water and thus reducing its quality. The purpose of this research is to understand the water quality of the Lake Pinang Luar based on the type and abundance of periphyton community. This research was conducted from April to May 2017. There are 3 research stations, in the inlet (St 1), middle area (St 2) and in the outlet (St 3). Artificial substrates (glass and ceramic plates, 4 x 10 cm) were placed in the lake. In each station, 9 glass and 9 ceramic plates were immersed for 3 weeks. Sampling was conducted 3 times, once/ week. In each sampling, 3 glass and 3 ceramic plates were removed. Periphyton samples were taken by scraping the surface of the substrate using a toothbrush. Periphyton collected were then preserved using lugol 1% and then identified. Results show that there were 28 species of periphyton found on the ceramic substrates, and they were belonged to 5 classes: Bacillariophyceae (15 species), Chlorophyceae (6 species), Cyanophyceae (5 species), Dinophyceae (1 species) and Euglenophyceae (1 species). There were 23 species of periphyton present on glass substrate, and they were divided into 4 classes, namely: Bacillariophyceae (13 species), Chlorophyceae (6 species), Cyanophyceae (3 species), and Euglenophyceae (1 species). The abundance of Periphyton on ceramic substrate was 403-2,153 cell/cm2, while on glass substrate ranged between 83-1,042 cell/cm2. The diversity index (H') of periphyton in both substrate ranged from 3.6-4.10, the dominance index (C) ranged from 0.07-0.12 and the uniformity index (E) ranged from 0.89-0.96. Data obtained indicated that the water quality in the Pinang Luar Lake is good and able to support the life of periphyton.
Key words: Oxbow lake, Artificial substrates, periphyton abundance, ceramic substrate.
