Model Pengelolaan Ruang Terbuka Hijau Berkelanjutan Sebagai Cadangan Karbon Di Kota Pekanbaru
Rapid development in an urban area has caused a decrease in environmental quality such as the increasing of air pollutantsaccumulation originates from urban activity. Sustainable green public open space management can safeguard urban microclimate. Vegetation in green public open space has great potential as a contributor of carbon storage to create the comfort of an environment.
This study aims to (1) know carbon storage in green public open space, (2) analyze the ability of green public open space to absorb CO2 emissions, (3) analyze the needs of green public open space as carbon
storage, (4) understand perception and business opportunity of green public open space, (5) determine important factors affecting green public open space, and (6) establish a symbolic structural model of sustainable green public open space management as carbon storage. This research was conducted in all green public open space in Pekanbaru City Riau Province. Data were obtained using survey methods,
field observations and measurements, interviews and documentation. The status of green public open space sustainability including ecological, social, economic and institutional dimensions is analyzed using Multi DimensionalScaling (MDS). Important factors affecting the sustainability of green public open space management are determined using a prospective analysis. The symbolic structural model of sustainable green public open space management is built with integration of MDS,leverage and prospective analysis. The results show that carbon storage in green public open space is 202 tons/ha. It has the ability to absorb CO2 emissions of 822,152.79 tons/year (49.25%) from total CO2 emissions of 1,669,384 tons/year. Green public open space management status as carbon reserves is classified as less sustainable. Important factors affecting sustainable green public open spacemanagement (R) are the wide of it (l), socialization of green public open space (s), CO2 absorption potential (p), business income (u) and cooperation of stakeholders (s). The model of green public open space management is an interaction between these important factors and is described in terms of the function of R = f (l, s, p, u, k).
