Abstract: This study aims to determine the improvement of speaking ability of children aged 3-4 years through the application of story telling method with hand puppet media in PAUD Permata Bunda Kuantan Mudik Kuantan Singingi Regency. The number of subjects in this study were 15 children consisting of 6 boys and 9 girls in PAUD Permata Bunda Kuantan Mudik Kuantan Singingi District. The data collection technique used is observation. This research includes quantitative and qualitative research. Quantitatively, the collected data is analyzed by descriptive percentage. The rate of change that occurs is measured by percent, while qualitatively describes the activities of children and teachers obtained through observation, interview and performance during the study. Based on hypothesis test results, the ability to speak children can be improved through the method of telling the story with a hand puppet media with 2 cycles. And in each cycle conducted 3 times meeting. Increased speaking ability of children aged 3-4 years is known from the average initial data 40.00 to cycle 1 51.67 has increased by 29.17% and increase from cycle 1 (51.67) to cycle 2 to 76.67 with Large increase of 48.39%. The amount of increase in the ability to speak 3-4 years old children in PAUD Permata Bunda Kuantan Mudik Kuantan Singingi District after being given an action is 91.67%.
