Hubungan Antara Kualitas Tidur Dengan Frekuensi Kejang Pada Pasien Epilepsi Di Poliklinik Saraf RSUD Arifin Achmad Provinsi Riau
Epilepsy is one of the most common neurological disorders worldwide and one of it’s effects is on sleep quality of the patients. Epilepsy is defined as a condition characterized by a recurrent epileptic seizure over 24 hours which arise without provocation. Whereas epileptic seizure is a clinical manifestation caused by abnormal and excessive brain electrical activity of a group of neurons. This clinical manifestation occurs suddenly and temporarily in the form of stereotypical behavioral changes, and can lead to awareness disturbance, motor disturbance, sensory disturbance, autonomous disturbance, or psychic disturbance. The basic classification of epilepsy based on the type of seizure according to ILAE 2017 is focal onset, generalized onset, and unknown onset. The purpose of this study is to determine the association between sleep quality and frequency of seizures in epilepsy patients. This research is analytical descriptive with cross sectional approach. Sleep quality was measured using a PSQI questionnaire then data was by using chi-square method. The results showed that there was correlation between sleep quality of epilepsy patients to frequency of seizures because the result was p = 0.000. It can be concluded that there is a relationship between sleep quality and frequency of seizures in epilepsy patients.
