Gambaran Kualitas Hidup Pasien Epilepsi Di Poliklinik Saraf RSUD Arifin Achmad Provinsi Riau
Epilepsy isa chronic disorder of brain characterized by a predisposition to generate epileptic seizures,has an effect on the psychosocial well-being of patients. The social stigma and impact on quality of life may pose a bigger challenge than the clinical severity. Measuring the quality of life is recognized as an important component of clinical management.This study aims to determine the overview of the quality of life of epilepsy patients in the neurological clinic of Arifin Achmad General Hospital of Riau Province. The research method used is descriptive with cross-sectional approach. The research was conducted in January - February 2018. The data source was taken from the medical record of Arifin Achmad General Hospital of Riau Province and quality life of epilepsy questionnaire instrument QOLIE-31. The average score of total quality of life in 30 respondents obtained poor quality life(60.67). The highest sub-scale for quality of life is the emotional well-being (71.61) while the lowest sub-scale for quality of life is seizure worry(49.84). Patients with characterised unemployment status, prolonged epilepsy for 1 - 2 years, generalized seizures, politerapi treatment lead to poor quality of life. Seizure worry, cognitive , social function are a major factor in the quality of life in epilepsy patients.
