Hubungan Dukungan Sosial Dengan Citra Tubuh Pasien Kanker Payudara Post Op Mastektomi
Mastectomy is one kind of recommended treatment for breast cancer patients. Unfortunately most of the patients who had this surgery will have body image distortion.There are so many factors which can influence This Body image distortion such social support from the people around them. This study aims to determine the correlation between social support to body image of post op mastectomy patients. The methodology of this research was descriptive correlation with cross sectional approach. The research was conducted on 41 post op mastectomy patients who meet inclution criteria which selected by purposive sampling technique. The Social Support Questionnaire by Denewer et al and Body Image Questionnaire which has been tested for validity and reliability has been used as a measuring tool. The result of research showed that most respondent 30 persons (73,2%) are in a middle age (41-60 years). The highest education level was 13 students (31,7%). The marital status was married 34 persons (82,9%). Type of occupation of respondent was mostly housewife 33 people (80,5%). The length post operation of mastectomy respondents that is ≤ 6 month amounted 21 persons (51,2%). Respondents having positive social support amounted to 21 people (51,2%). Respondents having negative body image amounted to 22 people (53,7). Results of the research indicate that there is correlation between social support to body image of post op mastectomy patient with p value =0,003 < α (0,05). From this results, It is highly recommended to family, colleagues, and community members to give social supports to post op mastectomy patients which consist of psychological, social and material support in order to increase their body image.
