Ekobiologi Predator Sycanus Croceovittatus (Dohrn) (Hemiptera : Reduviidae) Pada Hama Ulat Api Setora Nitens (Walker) Tanaman Kelapa Sawit Di Riau
This research was conducted in three places, Hama Tumbuhan
laboratory,(Technical Implementation Unit) Experimental Garden Faculty
of Agriculture, University of Riau and in field. This study aims to obtain the
predation rate and predator power of Sycanus croceovittatus from Riau in
controlling the caterpillar pests of Setora nitens in oil palm crops. The
study was prepared in the form of a complete randomized design (RAL)
with 5 (five) treatments and 5 (five) replications. The results showed that
the intensity of the fire attack of Setora nitens in Riau Province was
26.23% with the average number of fire worm Setora nitens was 4.36 tail /
palm stem. The average number of predators S. croceovittatus in Riau
Province is 0.16 tail / palm stem. The hatchability of S. croceovittatus eggs
was 70.6% with an egg incubation period of 13.4 days. The whole period
of the nimfa stadium lasts for 51,06 days. The life span of male and female
imago was 47.17 days and 46.94 days, respectively. The predator
predominance of S. croceovittatus was 112.13 eggs / imago, with a preoviposition
period of 18.14 days. The more the number of predators tested
the more larvae of Setora nitens deposits being preyed. The duration of
prey handling of one larvae of caterpillars the deposit of nitens by
predators S. croceovittatus is for 3.23 - 5.16 hours. Thus, the predator S.
croceovittatus may be used as an alternative in the control of the Setora
nitens.
