Status Gizi Anak Sekolah Dasar Di Kota Pekanbaru Berdasarkan Penilaian Ibu Dan Pengukuran Antropometri
Nutritional status is affected by intake and nutritional needs. Malnutrition is a serious health problem in children. The role of parents, particularly mothers, is very important to prevent malnutrition in children. The purpose of this study was to compare the nutritional status of children based on mother’s perception and anthropometry measurement. This was analytical observational study with cross-sectional design. The study subjects were 250 mothers of grade 4 and 5 students from 6 elementary schools in Pekanbaru. Based on anthropometry measurement, 28% and 10% children were overweight and underweight, respectively. In contrast, according to mothers, 4,8% children were overweight and 12,8% children were underweight. This study also showed that as many as 34.8% of mothers had incorrect perception about nutritional status of their children. Bivariate analysis found a relationship between job (p = 0,000), family income (p = 0.007) and mother’s anthropometry (p = 0.037) with maternal missclassification of child’s weight status. Furthermore, multivariate analysis demonstrated that mother’s job significantly affected mother’s perception of child’s weight status of their children (p = 0,004).
