Respons Tanaman Jagung Manis (Zea Mays L. Var Saccharata Sturt) Terhadap Cekaman Kekeringan Dan Pemberian Pupuk K
The aim of this inquiry is to examine the issue of drought stress and dosage of K fertilizer and its interaction towards physiology, development and yield of sweet corn and whether K fertilizer can overcome drought stress on sweet corn. This research was conducted in the greenhouse, Department of Agrotechnology, Faculty of Agriculture, Riau University from September to November 2017. The experiment was conducted by using a complete randomized design (CRD) with 2 factors: i.e. drought stress and K fertilizer and 3 replications. The first factor consisting of two levels: A1 = normal and A2 = drought stress. The second factor consists of four levels: K1 = 120 kg K2O ha-1, K2 = 150 kg K2O ha-1 and K3 = 180 kg K2O ha-1. The parameters observed consisted of physiological factors, growth and yield of sweet corn plant. The information collected was analyzed by ANOVA and HSD test at the 5% point.
The result suggests that drought stress decreases the physiological parameters, growth and yield of sweet corn except proline concentration and root to shoot ratio. Aplication of K fertilizer increased the content of 30 HST leaf chlorophyll, root volume and cobs length. The interaction of drought stress with K fertilizer application did not improve the physiology, growth and yield of sweet corn.
Key words: Drought stress, K fertilizer and sweet corn plant.
