The objectives of this research were to obtain intensity data fire caterpillar pests Setora nitens and population abundance of Eocanthecona furcellata predators in oil palm plantations in Riau Province, obtain biological data Eocanthecona furcellata from Riau with alternative feed larvae of weaver ants (kroto) and get a rate of predation and power predation Eocanthecona furcellata predator from Riau in controlling the fire caterpillar pests Setora nitens in crops of palm oil. This study used survey method, observation and experiment completely randomized design (CRD) with five (5) treatment of five (5) replicates. The measured parameter is the intensity of the fire caterpillar Setora nitens, fire caterpillar populations, and Eocanthecona furcellata predators, hatchability and egg hatch Eocanthecona furcellata predators and nymphs and imagery stadia long, then continued with search long of first prey and second prey search hose by Eocanthecona furcellata predator, long handling of prey Eocanthecona furcellata predators, power of predation and total mortality of the caterpillars Setora nitens are preyed by Eocanthecona furcellata predator.
Research result showed that the average number of fire caterpillars Setora nitens in Riau Province was 4,36 birds/midrib and Eocanthecona furcellata predators were 0,14 birds/midrib with the intensity of fire caterpillar of Setora nitens 26,23%. fecundity Eocanthecona furcellata was 134,88 grains/adult female with a percentage of 82,93% hatch. Life cycle Eocanthecona furcellata with alternative feed kroto from egg to adult is 65,235 days. Long handling of prey one larva caterpillar Setora nitens by predators Eocanthecona furcellata occurred during the 3,12 to 6,24 hours. Three pairs of imago Eocanthecona furcellata predators prey is the fastest (3,18 hours) and the highest mortality (66,00%).
