Improving the ability to recognize Symbols of numbers can be developed in children from an early age children develop rapidly in understanding mathematics at the age of 5-6 years. Not all children can calculate correctly, there are still many children who can not count but it is all a behavior in mathematics . From the results of the assessment and observations made in RA.Ummi Aisyiyah where the low ability of children in understanding the concept of counting is the ability to recognize the symbol of the number of 15 children in RA.Ummi Aisyiyah who can recognize the number symbols from 1-20 only 5 people to improve the ability Children counting is done through the game by using interesting concrete media through the traditional game that is the game hoeing the stick. This gameplay tool uses the base lid of the reason the base of the stick is more easily taken from the floor than the tip of the stick.
Based on the description above, the researcher is interested to conduct a research entitled "Increasing the Ability to Know the Symbol of Numbers Through the Game of Lidi Breeding Children Aged 5-6 Years with the aim to improve the ability to Know the Symbol of Numbers in children aged 5-6 years in RA.Ummi AisyiyahBantayan Batu Hampar Rokan Hilir Regency.
This study is a Classroom Action Research (PTK) consisting of two cycles and three meetings with the game method of hoeing in order to improve the ability to recognize the symbol of the number of children aged 5-6 years. Based on the recapitulation of the ability to recognize the symbol of numbers through the game hoeing the stick of 5-6 years old children in the initial data, cycle I, cycle II obtained the average that is before the cycle of 44.58% with the criteria Start Develop (MB). After the first cycle the average value obtained is 57.92% with the criteria of Expanding Expectancy (BSH). Continued the implementation of cycle II obtained an average value of 80.83% with criteria Evolving Very Bai (BSB). Percentage increase in ability to recognize the symbol of the number of children aged 5-6 years through the game digging the stick in RA.Ummi Aisyiyah Bantayan Batu Hampar District Rokan Hilir regency of 81.3%.
