Tapung Kiri River is the upstream part from the Siak River. Tapung Kiri River is affected by the activities of a society that can degrade water quality. The decrease in water quality will negatively affect the health status of Mystus nigriceps. The health condition of fish can be seen from the histological structure of gills, so it needs to be done for the study of the structure of the gills of Mystus nigriceps on the Tapung Kiri River. The process of making preparations of gill histology is done with formalin fixed, alcohol series processed, HE stained. From the results of the research appear that abnormality, such as hypertrophy, hyperplasia, odema, epithelial necrosis and rupture mucous and parasite Myxobolus sp. and worm Dactylogyrus sp. are present. Resulting from damage to the gills, the distance and the width between lamella become adjacent so the lamella narrows and fish hard to breathe. Based on data obtained, it can be concluded that the pollution of the waters of Tapung Kiri River negatively affect their health in general.
