Pembuatan Biodiesel Dari Minyak Nyamplung (Calophyllum Inophyllum) Menggunakan Katalis Basa Heterogen Naca-Geopolimer

Research on renewable alternative energy is increasingly being done. One of them is the manufacture of biodiesel. The process of making biodiesel so far using a homogeneous catalyst NaOH or KOH which has a weakness of the formation of soap products and the complexity of separation of biodiesel products with a catalyst. Therefore, the use of heterogeneous catalysts was developed, which in this study biodiesel made from nyamplung oil by using heterogenic base geopolymer catalyst. The geopolymer catalyst is first synthesized by reaction of sodium silicate, metakaolin, and bottom ash. Geopolymers characterized include basic properties, surface morphology, elemental composition, and surface area. Several variations of process variables are performed to assess their effect on yield of biodiesel. The fixed variable is the weight of nyamplung oil 50 gram, the temperature is 65 oC, the reaction time is 120 minutes, and the speed of stirring 400 rpm. While the variables change is the ratio of oil mol: methanol 1: 3, 1: 6, 1: 9, 1:12 and variation of catalyst concentration 1, 2, 3 and 4% -b of oil. The greater the mole ratio of oil: methanol then the biodiesel yield is also increasing. Increasing the catalyst concentration will also increase the yield of biodiesel, but when the catalyst concentration has reached its activity level the yield of biodiesel will decrease. The highest biodiesel yield was 88,04% in the mole oil ratio: methanol 1:12 and catalyst concentration of 2% -b of oil. Characteristics of biodiesel produced are density 873 kg / m3, kinematic viscosity 4,29 mm2 / s, acid number 0,5 mg-KOH / g biodiesel, flash point 140 °C and alkyl ester level of 99,91% have fulfilled Indonesian biodiesel standard (SNI 7182: 2015). So that the making of biodiesel from nyamplung oil can be used as alternative fuel in the future.
