Profil Pasien Kanker Paru Dengan Riwayat Pengobatan Tuberkulosis Paru Di RSUD Arifin Achmad Provinsi Riau Periode 2015 – 2018
Lung cancer and pulmonary tuberculosis (TB) are the two leading causes of death worldwide. Pulmonary tuberculosis is thought to increase the risk of lung cancer development through chronic inflammation and lung fibrosis. There are many similarities between both disease leading to delayed cancer diagnosis and the patient is often prescribed anti tuberculosis treatment instead. This study aimed to determine the profile of cancer patients with history of received anti tuberculosis treatment at Arifin Achmad Hospital, Riau Province, period 2015 – 2018. This study is a descriptive retrospective study. The results showed that a total of 39 out of 249 (15.7%) patients with lung cancer had a history of received anti-TB treatment. The majority of lung cancer patients who previously received anti-TB treatment were in 45-65 years age group (69.2%), were males (82.1%), presented with dyspnea (51.3%), cell type of lung cancer was found adenocarcinoma (57.6%), and showed negative sputum acid-fast bacilli (AFB) (69.2%). A total of 34 patients (87.2%) received anti-TB treatment for more than 1 month.
