Induksi Tunas Dari Eksplan Kotiledon Jambu Bol (Syzygium malaccense (L.) Merr. & L.M. Perry ) Dengan Pemberian Bap Secara IN Vitro
Guava (Syzygium malaccense (L.) Merr. & L.M Perry) is a group of fruit plants originating from the family Myrtaceae. The guava plant is favored by the community and has many benefits such as having various antibiotic activities, anti-oxidants and anti-cancer. Although this plant is popular with the community, it has begun to be rarely found in the field because of the lack of public awareness of this plant and its cultivation system is not right. The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of BAP administration and determine the best BAP concentration to trigger the formation of shoots of guava cotyledon explants. This research was conducted at the Integrated Laboratory, Department of Biology, Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences, The University of Riau from September 2018 to March 2019. This study used a completely randomized design (CRD) using concentrations (0; 2; 4; and 6 mg/l ) BAP with 6 replications in MS media for 60 days. The results of this study showed that the highest percentage of shoots formed 100% at 2 mg/l and 4 mg/l BAP. Giving 4 mg/l BAP gave the best response to the time of buds appearing 10.50 days, the number of shoots was 4.00 buds and the length of shoots was 3.98 cm.
Key words: Guava (Syzygium malaccense (L.) Merr. & L.M Perry), BAP (Benzylaminopurine), in vitro, shoot induction.
