Kepentingan Turki Dan Rusia Dalam Turkish Stream Pipeline Project Pasca Insiden Jet Su 24
In 2015, there was a conflict between Turkey and Russia caused by the shooting of the Russian SU 24 Jet by the Turkish Pilot F16. This conflict resulted in the disruption of economic relations between the two countries, one of which was the termination of the construction of the Turkish Stream project. This study aims to get an overview and explanation of why Turkey and Russia reached an agreement to resume the Turkish Stream project after the Jet SU 24 incident.
To analyze it, researchers used a perspective of realism, non-traditional security theory, especially energy security and strengthened with the theory of energy diplomacy with concepts geopolitics and geoeconomics. The type of research conducted in this study is library research and documentary analysis to reveal information in a particular field of study.
The result in this study are that the two countries share a great interest in the Turkish Stream project. Collaborative relations between the two countries create a system of "mutual dependence", in which Turkey does not have abundant energy reserves depending on energy supplies from Russia. Likewise Russia, which has abundant natural resources, especially in the energy sector, has a dependence on Turkey regarding pipelines that pass through the territory of Turkey, which is used by Russia to secure energy demand for its consumers, especially the European Union.
