Upaya Delegitimasi Amerika Serikat Terhadap Tiongkok Dalam Sengketa Laut Tiongkok Selatan Pasca Keputusan Mahkamah Arbitrase Internasional Tahun 2016
The South China Sea is one of the most strategic waters in the world in terms of location and economic potential. This led to China's ambition as a great power in the region to claim a large part of the territorial waters so as to get a response from the United States through regional delegitimation efforts. This study uses a historical approach and a qualitative-descriptive analysis model. To analyze it, researchers use the neorealism theory to transform conflict transformatively.
The findings of this study are that the United States' threatening unilateral efforts are related to the need to cooperate with China to face North Korea's nuclear threat which also threatens the interests of the United States and its allies in the Asia-Pacific.
