Stabilisasi Tanah Menggunakan Abu Kayu Terhadap Tanah Lunak Bengkalis
Soft soil is related to soils which if not recognized and carefully investigated can cause problems of instability and long-term decline that cannot be tolerated, have low shear strength and high compressibility. The increase in the amount of waste that was not followed by improvement and improvement of waste management facilities and infrastructure resulted in the problem of garbage becoming more serious.
The objectives of this research are to determine the physical properties of the soil studied and also how the behavior of soil improvement by means of stabilization using aditive materials in the form of wood ash, lime and a combination of the two and knowing the influence of the duration of soil extraction on the strength of native soil with these additive ingredients.
This research is in the form of laboratory testing, while the tests carried out are of two types, among others, testing of soil physical properties consisting of soil specific gravity, atterberg limit and soil grain size gradation, as well as testing soil mechanical properties in the form of test standard proctor and UCS testing (Unconfined Compression strength) with a total sample of 110 samples.
The results showed that soil samples taken from Sungai Alam Village, Bengkalis District, Bengkalis Regency were clay with high plasticity (CH). From the results of chemical analysis of wood ash which the tests were carried out at the Chemical Chemistry Testing and Analysis Laboratory, Faculty of Engineering, University of Riau, it was found that wood ash was dominated by SiO2 (silica dioxide) of 36%, and CaO (lime) of 38.39%. From the results of the Unconfined Compression Strength test (UCS) in the original soil, the largest stress value (qu) was obtained at 14 days with a value of 450.44 kPa and soil cohesion (cu) 225.22 kg/cm2. The use of wood ash for soil stabilization causes the UCS value to tend to decrease while the addition of lime shows an increase in the large UCS value. Addition of wood ash to the combination mixture, can help the properties of soil agitation due to the addition of lime so that the soil is not easily broken. From the results of the UCS tests carried out in the Laboratory, the longer the ripening time carried out the higher the UCS value. Soaking process causes a large decrease in UCS value, the longer the immersion is done the smaller the UCS value.
