Sejarah Masjid Raya Sultan Riau Di Pulau Penyengat Kota Tanjung Pinang Provinsi Kepulauan Riau

History The process of Islamization and the development of Islam in Indonesia has brought influence to the minds of the people. One of them is the culture of the regions in Indonesia. One tribe in Indonesia that takes Islamic principles in its culture is the Malay tribe. One of the areas with the majority of Malay people in Indonesia is the Kepulauan Riau Region. The development of Islam in this area can be seen from the greatness of its Malay sultanate, the riau-lingga sultanate which stands on a culture that is very thick with Islamic wisdom in this Malay land. One of them that we really can see is from its historic building, the Riau Sultan's Great Mosque. The research objectives are 1) For the history of the Great Mosque of Sultan Riau on Penyengat Island in Tanjung Pinang City, 2) To find out the function of the Great Mosque of Sultan Riau on Penyengat Island in Tanjung Pinang City, 3) To find out the symbolic meanings of several building parts in Masjid Raya Sultan Riau, 4) To find out tourists' interest in historical tourism in the Sultan Mosque of Sultan Riau. As for this study using the method of Mix-methods research that combines qualitative and quantitative approaches in terms of analyzing data and explaining research results. The results of this study are mosques Raya Sultan Riau is a mosque known as the initiative of the VIIth Dipertuan Muda Raja Abdurrahman. But in fact this mosque had begun to be built around 1803 by Sultan Mahmud Syah III, which was later presented with the island of stingers to Engku Putri Raja Hamidah Binti Raja Haji Fisabilillah as a Bride.
