Pengaruh Kerapatan Biorafia Terhadap Penurunan Polutan Organik Yang Terkandung Pada Air Sungai Sail
One of the pollutions that enter the Sail River is organic pollutants derived from domestic waste. Efforts to reduce organic pollutants can be conducted by using biocords. Biocord is a rope in the form of three-dimensional fine fiber webbing that is able to hold microorganisms in large quantities. This research used biorafia media (material made from raffia-based materials) in order to reduce the levels of BOD5 and COD in the water. The method used was CRD with 3 different biorafia densities, namely low density (P1), medium density (P2) and high density (P3) with 3 replications each. Biorafia is placed in a ditch drained from the Sail River. Biorafia functions as a place to attach microorganisms (biofilms). The seeding time of the biofillm was 30 days and the retention time of the water was 4.5 hours. The effectiveness of BOD5 decrement was 71.4%, 74.1% and 69.5% in P1, P2 and P3 respectively. While the effectiveness of COD decrement was 38.7%, 46. 9% and 42.5% in P1, P2 and P3 respectively. In conclusion, the biorafia was able to reduce the BOD5 and COD in the water, but the density of biorafia did not affect decrement of those parameters.
