Ekstraksi Polietilena Dari Limbah Kertas Laminasi Dengan Variasi Suhu Dan Waktu Ekstraksi Menggunakan Pelarut Trikloroetilen
Laminated paper is paper that is coated by a layer such as plastic, aluminum foil and others in order to protect the paper from various contaminants and is resistant to water. Laminated paper is usually discarded or not reused, so that laminated paper can be recycled and reused, it is necessary to separate the paper and polyethylene from the laminated paper. The separated polyethylene can be reused as a plastic material. Meanwhile, the separated paper can be recycled back into pulp. The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of temperature and extraction time on the efficiency of polyethylene extraction from the extraction results of laminated paper, characterize the extracted paper to obtain information whether the extracted paper did not contain polyethylene and determine the optimum conditions for the efficiency of polyethylene extraction using the surface methodology response method (RSM). Variable operating conditions are extraction temperature in the range of 70°C-80°C and extraction time in the range of 10-20 minutes. The results showed that the highest efficiency of polyethylene extraction was 99.48% at 80°C extraction temperature treatment and extraction time of 20 minutes. Laminated paper has a FTIR spectrum difference from laminated paper which has been separated polyethylene using an extraction process. On the laminated paper there are alkene groups (C=C and =C-H) which have waves of 1654.03; 958,660; 939,37; and 679.94 cm-1 where as the laminated paper from the extraction results did not have an alkene functional group (ethene) andd the optimum variable with the Response Surface Methodology (RSM) analysis is the extraction temperature of 74.84°C and the extraction time 14.79 minutes.
