Efektifitas Pemberian Terapi Okupasi Dalam Meningkatkan Kemandirian Makan Pada Anak Usia Sekolah Dengan Down Syndrome
Abstract
Down Syndrome is a genetic condition which often appear and easly with the child. Down syndrome causes growth delay,disability, a physical weakness that causes a decrease in the degree of ability. One of the ability of children was eat by self. Down syndrome child need therapy to raise independence. The purpose of this research to know the effectiveness of occupational therapy to raise ability of down syndrome child. This research used quasy experiment design with non equivalent control group, and conduct at SLB Sri Munjinab. The sample of the research were 30 responden that taken by purposive sampling technique, and divided into 15 experimental group and 15 control group. Instrument used observational sheet of eating ability that has been tested the validity and reliability. The analysis used dependent T test and independent T test. This researce found that there are differences in ability of eating before and after occupational therapy (p < 0.05). The conclusion of this reasearch, occupational therapy is effective in to improve the ability of eating in school-aged children with down syndrome. This research recomend occupational therapy as one of interventions to improve the ability of eating in school-aged children with down syndrome.
