Skarifikasi Kimia Menggunakan H2so4 Dalam Upaya Pemecahan Dormansi Biji Crotalaria Retusa L.
Crotalaria retusa L. is a plant that used as Legume Cover Crop (LCC), propagation of plants using seeds takes a long time because it has a thick seed coat so seeds are dormant. Chemical scarification using H2SO4 is one of the effective efforts to break down seed dormancy. The purpose of this study was to determine the effect and determine the concentration and time of soaking using H2SO4 on C. retusa seed germination. This study uses a Factorial Complete Randomized Design (CRD) consisting of 2 factors: H2SO4 concentration (0, 20, 40, 60, 80, 100%) and immersion time (20, 30, 40 minutes) with 3 replications. Data were analyzed using ANOVA and Duncan Multiple Range Test (DMRT) follow-up level of 5%. The results showed that brown C. retusa seeds without treatment and soaking in distilled water for 20 minutes produced a percentage of germination of 100%. Interaction treatment tended to reduce percentage of germination and accelerate germination time (fastest germination time is 1,5 ± 0,6 days at 100% H2SO4 treatment for 30 minutes), had no effect on the vigor index and the value of Corrected Germination Rate Index (CGRI) (except treatment of 100% H2SO4 for 40 minutes). Increasing H2SO4 concentration decreases the percentage of germination, vigor index and CGRI values but accelerates the time of germination. The longer soaking time decreases the percentage of germination, vigor index and CGRI values but tends to slow down the time the sprouts appear.
