Analisis Material Kayu Komposit Untuk Gelagar Jembatan Berdasarkan Kearifan Lokal
The availability of wood with suitable properties for bridge construction has become increasingly scarce. The reason is the decreasing size of the forest as a source of timber. To anticipate this, innovation is needed by utilizing wood which is still widely available but does not meet the requirements. In this regard, the purpose of this study is to examine the behavior of merau wood and wood composite. To achieve this goal, wood composite applications are used as raw materials for bridge construction. The results of flexural testing of meranti-merau composite wood samples with 10% high grade wood composition obtained an average flexural strength value of 559.89 kg / cm2. Meranti-merau composite wood with a high grade wood composition of 20% obtained an average flexural strength value of 597.79 kg / cm2. Whereas composite wood meranti-merau with 30% high grade wood composition obtained an average flexural strength value of 673.92 kg / cm2. This of course can provide an alternative to the substitution of the use of strong grade wood that is already difficult to find. So it can be concluded that the use of merau wood and meranti wood composite technology is suitable for bridge structures with a maximum load of 500 kg.
