Analisis Teknis Dan Tingkat Keramahan Lingkungan Alat Tangkap Jaring Kurau (Bottom Drift Gillnet) Nelayan Desa Alah Air Kecamatan Tebing Tinggi Kabupaten Kepulauan Meranti
ABSTRACT
This research aims to determine the technical aspects of bottom drift gillnet fishing gear, catch and level of environmental friendliness of bottom drift gillnet fishing gear. This research was conducted in July to August to fishermen Alah Air Village in Tebing Tinggi District Regency of Meranti Islands. This bottom drift gillnet fishing gear is an effective and effective passive fishing gear because this fishing gear is allowed to drift in the direction of the current. Mesh size in this fishing gear is 16,8 cm, long 974,4 meters and 13.9 meters high with multifilament PA material which is operated in asam strait waters.
Based on the results of the research conducted in Alah Air Village, assessment of the level of environmental friendliness botom drift gillnet fishing gear assessed based on the number of main catches is kurau fish by 54%, bycatch 46%, while the catch is not used 98% and the length of a fish that is worth catching is 100%.. So the eco-friendly assessment is done by looking at these four aspects where the main catch gets 2 points, by catcht 3 point, while the catch is not used 4 point and the length of a fish that is worth catching is 4 point. Then the weighted value collected is 13 points which can be categorized as environmentally friendly fishing gear. Likewise the results of the assessment of the level of environmental friendliness of the CCRF FAO concept (1995) got a score of 26.8. So this bottom drif gillnet fishing gear can be categorized as an environmentally friendly fishing gear.
