Kajian Potensi Cadangan Karbon Dan Serapan Co2 Pada Ekosistem Pesisir Di Bagian Timur Pulau Bintan Provinsi Kepulauan Riau
Study of carbon stock and CO2 sequestration on coastal ecosystem of the eastern part of Bintan Island Kepulauan Riau Province has been conducted on April 2016. The potencies of carbon stock and CO2 sequestration within conservation area (Station 1) and anthropogenic area (Station 2) on mangrove ecosystem, also tourism area (Station 1) and conservation area (Station 2) on seagrass ecosystem were compared. The results showed that carbon stock in Station 1 and Station 2 on mangrove ecosystem are 4.632.69 ton/ha dan 4.935.84 ton/ha. The carbon stock in Station 1 and Station 2 on seagrass ecosystem are 73.24 ton/ha dan 73.05 ton/ha. CO2 sequestration on mangrove ecosystem are 16,987.61 ton/ha (Station 1) and 18,098.10 ton/ha (Station 2). CO2 sequestration on seagrass ecosystem are 268.54 ton/ha (Station 1) and 267.86 ton/ha (Station 2). The carbon stock potencies on mangrove ecosystem were found on above ground (leaf, branch and stem) and below ground (root), carbon stock potencies between above ground carbon (AGC) and below ground carbon (BGC) in mangrove ecosystem were not found. The largest carbon stock potencies on seagrass ecosystem in Station 1 and Station 2 were recorded on living biomass, followed on liters and epiphytes. It is suggested from this study that coastal ecosystem of the eastern part of Bintan Island need to be protected as one of the precaution to solve the future global warming issues.
