Keadaan Stok Dan Sebaran Ikan Terubuk (Tenualosa Macrura) Sebagai Dasar Pengelolaan Kawasan Suaka Perikanan Terubuk Provinsi Riau

This study aimed to determine the latest condition of terubuk fish resources, the condition stock and its distribution in Riau Province Waters by using acoustic data acquisition. This research was conducted during the period of April to November 2015 and continued until September 2016. This study used survey method. The object of this study was terubuk fish, and the location of this study was held in Terubuk Sanctuary in Riau Province Waters include the three regions: Bengkalis, Siak and Meranti Islands. Accoustic data is processed using SONAR ver. 4 software.

Terubuk fish is present at all times in Riau Province Terubuk Sanctuary Area with different amounts of abundance. At certain times (outside of the fishing season), the presence of the fish is found only in certain water columns (deep waters / close to the water base) also only in certain zones. The spawning areas were found from Lalang Strait and P. Padang Strait to Bengkalis Strait and occured in peak fase of bright moon and dark moon. The survey results showed that the terubuk migration influence by spawning factor, growth and sex factor where 'pias' (male terubuk) will always be in the deep waters of the straits (Terubuk Sanctuary Area/Zone 1-6). The body length distribution did not indicate progression mode, but only the male fish presence (pias), female fish (terubuk) and transitional sex fish; where 'Pias' group is 20 cm length below and 'Terubuk' is 20 cm length above.

From the research conducted, the authors suggest that the management and conservation of terubuk fish in Bengkalis Waters can be done by reducing the catching effort of 10% from current efforts, closing the fishing season in August, September, October and November, and applying fisheris refugia (MPA) around Pulau Padang. In addition, there should be a control and limitation of average size of the the smallest fishes can be caught.
