Penentuan Status Kerusakan Dan Peran Serta Masyarakat Dalam Konservasi Hutan Mangrove Di Desa Tanjung Pasir Kecamatan Tanah Merah Kabupaten Indragiri Hilir
Indragiri Hilir is a district in the southern part of Riau Province, on the east coast of Sumatra Island. Mangrove forest in this district continues to experience extensive depreciation. Tanjung Pasir village is one of the villages surrounded by mangrove forest ecosystems, located opposite Kuala Enok Village. The dominant of the population of Tanjung Pasir Village are ethnic Duano. Communities fulfill their daily needs by utilizing mangrove forest ecosystems as a source of income, both directly and indirectly. Therefore, it is necessary to conduct research on the role of the community in mangrove forest conservation and the current status of mangrove forest damage. Vegetation observations were made at three stations, each created three pieces of plots measuring 10 x 10 m following the transect line with the direction perpendicular to the coastline. In-depth interviews were conducted with 41 informants from community members and 10 from farmer groups. Data were analyzed quantitatively to determine the status of damage of mangrove forests and qualitative descriptive analysis to determine community participation in mangrove forest conservation. The results showed that the damage status of mangrove forests was classified as damaged (rare) to good (moderate), with tree densities ranging from 767-1,111 trees/ha and canopy cover around 47.57-74.12%. The community is quite involved in the conservation of mangrove forests in Tanjung Pasir Village in the form of mangrove nurseries and planting.
