Proses Koagulasi - Flokulasi Dan Adsorpsi Untuk Pemanfaatan Kembali Buangan Akhir Pengolahan Pome Sebagai Air Baku Di Industri Minyak Sawit
Problem of Palm oil mill industry is POME final discharge failed to comply discharge standard and brownish black color in POME final discharge inhibits the growth of aquatic biota. In this research, we propose a treatment for POME final discharge using adsorption, coagulation and combination of coagulation and adsorption to reduce chemical oxygen demand (COD), suspended solid (SS) and color, therefore it can meet discharge standard and recycle POME final discharge as water production of palm oil mill industry. The beginning of research to determine optimum dose aluminum sulfate with variation 2-6 g/l. Next step is combination of adding alum after and before powdered activated carbon using optimum dose 5 g/l alum and 9 g/l powdered activated carbon. The result showed combination of processes more efficient for COD, SS and color removal. The best combination by adding alum after powdered activated carbon. Efficiency of COD, SS, and color removal 97,2%: 90,3%; 99,6%, which is better than discharge standard and recycle POME final discharge as water production can be achieved.
