Dampak Kebijakan America First Terhadap Ekspor Karet Indonesia Ke Amerika Serikat Tahun 2013-2018

This study elaborated the protectionist policy of the United States through America First policy, which has affected not only the global economic deterioration but also Indonesia’s rubber export. This study aims to explore the impacts of America First policy on Indonesia’s rubber export to the United States market and to explain the supporting and inhibiting factors towards Indonesia's rubber exports.
This is a qualitative or library research study where the data used were secondary data obtained from documents, books, journals, reports and internet. The data were analyzed descriptively in the form of systematic and objective approaches in order to produce factual, actual, and accurate information based on the obtained document.
This study discovered some findings: First, America First is the United States foreign policy on raising the import tariffs. This policy was imposed due to the fraudulent trading scheme from China which has prompted the United States to take a protectionist measures towards China and other countries. Second, the effect of America First policy was the occurrence of war on tariffs on the imported goods between the United States and China which has caused a decline in the global economy. Consequently, the downturn in the global economy, has contributed to the decline in demand for rubber from China where a lot of goods made by rubber was severely distributed. Third, the decreasing of the rubber sale was used by China to unilaterally impose rubber prices by regulating rubber investment frame in three Asian countries, such as Myanmar, Laos and Cambodia. China, by empowering its state-owned company, Chongqing General Trading Chemical Co., has currently dominated the world rubber price. As a result, this price enforcement has caused the decline in rubber price and its productivity in Indonesia.
