Abstinence is prohibited everything that is prohibited if there is a violation, it will get bad for the perpetrator. Some opinions say that abstinence functions and aims to educate the public so that they can apply the good values practiced in life. Abstinence forbidden land napu (inherited land from the guardian or tribal chief or customary chief) tanjung kuyo village one of which is the prohibition of kobau (buffalo) stepping on or passing through the village. The origin of this prohibited abstinence comes from the ancient ancestors of the Piliang tribe who was the head of the Napu land tribe who made oaths in the land of Napu itself. This study aims to find out what factors cause the emergence of community confidence in abstinence from entering cobra in the land of the village of Tanjung Kuyo, Pangkalan Lesung, Pelalawan Regency. Informants are selected purposively according to their needs and combined with snowbowling techniques. The informants examined were as follows: Head of Tanjung Kuyo Village, Traditional Figure of Tanjung Kuyo Village, Ninik Mamak Tanjung Kuyo Village, and Community Leader. Data collected through observation, interviews, and documentation. In analyzing data using qualitative techniques. The results showed that the factors that led to the emergence of community beliefs that researchers could conclude were that buffaloes were prohibited from entering because of the misconception of humans who thought that buffalo was the cause of death. tanjung kuyo and the community believe that until now, this prohibition has never really happened in Napu land so people are afraid to violate this taboo. The calamity that occurs as a result of breaking this prohibition is not only for people who violate it, but it can happen to anyone who lives on the ground.
