Karbon Aktif Dari Tandan Pisang Dengan Variasi Kalium Hidroksida Berbantuan Iradiasi Gelombang Mikro Sebagai Adsorben Logam Berat
The aims of this study are to determine the influence of consentration variation potassium hydroxide and adsorption of heavy metals from activated carbon. Pra-carbonization of banana empty bunch fruit was carried out using electric oven at 180oC for 1 hour. Chemical activation used activating agent KOH of 2M, 3M and 4M for 20 hours at 30oC and then 60oC for 2 hours which were coded as TP2M, TP3M and TP4M respectively. Microwave irradiation was conducted at 630 Watt of output power for 15 minutes. XRD characterization shows that lowest Lc value is 10,996 at the sample of TP2M. Scanning electron microscopy was used to determine surface morphology of activated carbon. The result of energy dispersive X-rays analysis showed at TP2M the highest carbon value and the lowest oxygen value are respectively 87,20% and 9,52%. Fourier transform infrared spectrometry resulted the functional groups C-H, C≡C, C-C, C-OH, and CH2 at wave number of 2887 cm-1, 2360,97 cm-1, 2339,75 cm-1, 1573 cm-1, 1393,63 cm-1 and 998,21 cm-1. Atomic adsorption spectroscopy analysis shows that TP2M sample has the highest heavy metal adsorption of 62,35% for Cu and 87,41% for Pb.
