Air Terproduksi Migas Dan Model Pemanfaatan Untuk Kebutuhan Air Masyarakat Kecamatan Minas Kabupaten Siak
Background and Purpose: Minas Sub-district produces oil and gas-produced water which reaches millions of m2 per day which is re-injected into underground formations because produced water in Indonesia is still considered as the residual water of the oil and gas industry or as waste water which can cause environmental problems. Unlike in developed countries, which considers produced water is an environmental asset that is part of water resources and not as a waste that can cause adverse effects on the environment. The purpose of this study was to obtain the character of produced water and the model of the use of produced water in Minas District. Materials and Methods: Oil and gas produced water from oil fields is characterized through laboratory testing for physical, inorganic chemistry, organic chemistry, pesticides and radioactive parameters based on Government Regulation No. 82 of 2001. Surveys and questionnaires were also conducted to determine the social conditions of the community, especially in the use of water to meet daily needs. Experiments of laboratory-scale production of water produced by using water treatment technology available in the community to find out the right technology for produced water treatment. Analysis of the model of water utilization was carried out using information obtained from the results of the characterization of produced water, laboratory experiments and literature studies to determine the best model of produced water utilization to meet the daily needs of community water. Result: Produced water in Minas District still cannot be used directly to meet community’s daily needs because it still not meets quality standard regulated in PP No. 82 year 2001 and the social conditions of the people in Minas District still cannot fulfill daily water needs properly in terms of quality and quantity. The right processing technology for processing produced water is to use reverse osmosis technology (RO) and the right model of utilization of produced water for the community in Minas District is a model of community, government and private sector cooperation.
