recognize the symbols of letters, most of the other children can not recognize the
sound of the initial letters of the names of objects that are nearby Mass "Ba" for
ba-tu, "sa" for sa-pu. And some other children have not been able to mention the
letters to name their own. And there are some children can not mention the sound
of certain letters such as letter q so p, letter m so n. Based on these observations it
is possible that children's early reading ability does not develop because the
media used are not supportive and less attractive to children. Therefore, it is
necessary to improve the ability to read the beginning through the letter card
media. The ability to read the beginning is the ability to be able to speak letters,
syllables, words and sentences presented in written form into oral form. The
benefits of this research are, for example, the benefits for teachers can add insight
to learning, especially in the development of early readership skills through letter
card media. As for the benefits for schools as inputs that pay more attention to
the ability to read the beginning of children so have the opportunity to develop
more advanced and precise and optimal so that the results can be used as an
example for other institutions. The method of this research is classroom action
research method conducted in two cycles, the data collection tool used in this
research is the observation sheet, the sample size in this research is 15 children
consist of 5 boys and 10 girls. Based on the analysis of the two-cycle assessment
process increased with the percentage increase in the action before the 28.69%
cycle I, cycle II I 54.19%, and the increase before the second cycle cycle of
98.44%. From the results of this study concluded that the media card letters can
improve the ability to read the beginning of children aged 5-6 years in early
childhood in Paud Kasih Ibu Bangko Pusako Rokan Hilir District. As the
researcher's suggestion for this research is for people who are in the world of
early childhood education are teachers, principals and parents are expected to
work together in improving the quality of education, especially in early
childhood education in accordance with their duties and obligations.
