Peran United Nations Children’s Fund (Unicef) Menangani Dampak Bencana Gempa Bumi Dan Tsunami Palu
After the earthquake and tsunami in Palu many surviving children are then obliged to fulfill their right so that they can continue and live. In addition to the State that must ensure the security of its citizens, human security is also biased by relevant institutions. UNICEF came to the field to help restore the condition of tsunami-affected children in Palu. The purpose of this study is to determine the impact of the earthquake and tsunami that occurred in Palu and to determine the role of UNICEF in dealing with children affected by this disaster. This study also aims to determine the background of the formation of UNICEF and its contribution in Indonesia.
This research uses the perspective of pluralism which views that there are other actors besides the state that are no less important in international relations. The theory used in this research is role theory and international organization theory. In this study, the authors also use the level of analysis of interest groups. The method used in this research is qualitative.
After the disaster in Palu, UNICEF did “Emergency response action by sending a number of children's psychosocial equipment in the form of clothes, toys, cleaning equipment and educational equipment. In dealing with the effects of this disaster, UNICEF provided a variety of assistance focusing in five areas namely WASH, health, nutrition, child protection and education. In addition, UNICEF also helped to unite children separated from their families, improve the quality of education, improve health facilities and provide clean water supplies.
