Pengaruh Kecepatan Pengadukan Dan Waktu Kontak Terhadap Biosorpsi Logam Cu(Ii) Oleh Biomassa Coprinus Comatus
ABSTRACT
Heavy metal Cu(II) which contained in electroplating wastewater is a highly toxic substance and very dangerous for living creatures. The toxicity that these metals carry can lead to chronic and acute. Biosorption with fungi is one of the abatement methods to reduce the metal contaminant in environment. The present study aimed at determining the maximum biosorption capacity and the removal percentage of Cu(II) biosorption by Coprinus comatus. Empty Fruit Bunches(EFB) is used as growing medium of Coprinus comatus then used to adsorb a solution containing heavy metal Cu(II) with concentration 1,62 ppm. The effects of stirring speeds and contact times on the rate of metallic biosorption were examined. There are some variation of stirring speeds (50; 100; 150 and 200 rpm) and contact times variation (60; 90; 120; and 150 minutes). The adsorbed metal ion was calculated from differences of metal ion concentration before and after adsorption based on the analysis with Atomic Absorption Spectrophotometry (AAS) method and fungtional groups of Coprinus comatus were indentified by using FTIR spectrophotometry. The result showed that Cu(II) could be effectively adsorbed by Coprinus comatus as the biosorbent and its biosorption could reach its maximum at 74,012% with stirring speeds in 50 rpm and contact time in 60 minutes. Maximum biosorption capacity of Coprinus comatus (q max) for Cu (II) is 0,6 mg/g.
