Pemanfaatan Magnetic Biochar Dari Ampas Sagu Sebagai Adsorben Untuk Penyisihan Warna, Zat Organik, Dan Besi (Fe) Pada Air Gambut
ABSTRACT
Peat water is brownish red because it cointans organic substances and
heavy metal. Adsorption with magnetic biochar as an adsorbent is a method of
treating peat water. Sago waste is potential as a raw material for magnetic biochar
production because it contains cellulose, hemicellulose and lignin. This research
aims to study the effect of magnetic biochar dose and contact time to remove
color, organic substances, and Fe consentration on peat water, so it can saturate
water quality standard for sanitary hygiene. This research used magnetic biochar
dose 25; 3,15; 5; 6,8; 8,55 g/l and contact time 30; 60; 90; 120; 150 minute. The
result showed the color and organic substances removal rate is higher was 8,55 g/l
magnetic biochar dose and 150 minute contact time was 88,6% and 80,4% with
the concentration into 208,5 mg/l and 85,88 mg/l, whereas Fe concentration
increased after treatment. The maximum adsorption capacity of color and organic
substance was 805,6 mg/g and 150,16 mg/g. The result of treatment still above
water quality standard, so it can not to be used as water for sanitary hygiene.
