Pekanbaru Forestry Vocational School was established in 2009. Pekanbaru Forestry Vocational School has operational license No. 420 / SM.2 / VI / 2009/3878 with NPSN 10497348, covering area of 16 ha. The school has also won national Adiwiyata award in 2016.
Based on observations, environmental management at Pekanbaru Forestry Vocational School is still not optimal. This is also the reason why the school has not been able to receive “Adiwiyata Mandiri”. There are several national adiwiyata implementations at Pekanbaru Forestry Vocational School which are no longer in line with the established indicators, including: 1) Not all school members are involved in environmental management activities, especially those in the school area; 2) Facilities and infrastructure are poorly maintained, such as the garbage bins in front of the class, many of which have no cover, Temporary Shelter (TPS) that are not well maintained and a lot of garbage accumulates in front of TPS and the sink’s faucets in front of the class can not be used; 3) Canteen still sells food that is packaged in a non-environmentally friendly manner. Substitution of school principals that occurs in uncertain time is also a factor causing the school has not reached Adiwiyata Mandiri. This is because every new school principal has priority targets that must be achieved within a certain time frame.
