Pengaruh Perioditas Cahaya Berbeda Terhadap Pertumbuhan Spirulina Sp.
Spirulina sp. is an autotrophic organism that is bluish green in color consisting of
cylindrical cells that form colonies where the cells are cavities - the cavities form
twisted filaments that resemble a spiral (helix) and are also called filamentous
blue green algae. One of the factors that influence the density of Spirulina sp. is
the periodity of light because it has an important role in the process of
photosynthesis. This study aims to obtain the best length of time (periodity)
lighting against the density of Spirulina sp. This research was conducted on
December 16, 2019 to January 1, 2020, at the Aquaculture Environmental Quality
Laboratory (MLB), Faculty of Fisheries and Marine Affairs, University of Riau.
The method used was the experimental method completely randomized design
(CRD) with one factor, namely the periodity of light consisting of 5 treatments,
namely: P0: 12 hours of light, 12 hours of darkness, P1: 0 hours of light, 24 hours
of darkness, P2: 6 hours of light, 18 hours dark, P3: 18 hours light, 6 hours dark,
P4: 24 hours light, 0 hours dark. To reduce the level of doubt, 3 repetitions are
required. This research was conducted for 14 days, the source of spirulina was
obtained from spirulina farmers in Jepara, West Java, 38.74 ml of seeds were used
with a density of 21,000 ind / l and put into a 2 liter container. The results showed
that there was an effect of different light periodicity on the growth of Spirulina
sp., The best light periodity for the growth of Spirulina sp. Microalgae. namely 24
hours of light at 40,395 ind / l, the highest specific growth rate at 24 hours of light
was 9,876 ind / day while with water quality such as temperature 28-32 oC and
pH 7-8.
