The 2018 Indragiri Hilir District Health Office worm disease survey, showed that Seberang Tembilahan Village had the most cases of worm infections, out of 870 students, 42.4% experienced STH. This study aims to analyze the influence of environmental factors on worm disease in elementary school students in Seberang Tembilahan Village, Indragiri Hilir Regency.
The research was conducted from January to February 2020 using a survey method. Examination of feces in the laboratory using the Kato Katz method. Determination of the number of respondents in 4 SD Kelurahan Seberang Tembilahan was carried out using the formula for estimating the proportion of Lameshow and totaling 72 people. The method of analysis used univariate, bivariate with Chi Square and multivariate.
The results showed that out of 72 elementary school students in 4 elementary schools whose feces were examined, 23.61% or 17 students had a worm infestation. Statistically based on the bivariate analysis of clean water facilities, latrine conditions, conditions of waste water disposal facilities, types of house floors, household waste management, income level, nail hygiene, habit of using footwear, the habit of washing hands with soap and defecating habits are absent which has a significant effect on the incidence of worm infestation in elementary school students. The final result of the model test shows that although the variables of clean water facilities and latrine conditions are not significant, these two variables influence each other. It is possible that there is an interaction between the two variables in influencing the incidence of worm infestation in elementary school students. The variable that had the greatest effect on the incidence of worm infestation in elementary school students was the latrine condition with an adjusted OR of 4.01, meaning that the odds of respondents whose latrine conditions did not meet the requirements were 4.01 times greater than those who met the conditions after being controlled for the variable. other. Meanwhile, the variable of clean water facilities has an influence on the incidence of worm infestation in elementary school students as indicated by an adjusted OR of 2.26 meaning that the odds of respondents whose conditions of clean water facilities do not meet the requirements are 2.26 times greater than those who meet the conditions after being in other variable control. Simultaneously, clean water facilities and latrine conditions can explain the variation in the incidence of worm infestation among elementary school students by 9.9%.
